The state government is set to launch a modern cruise service in the Yamuna next month, aimed at river revival as well as promoting tourism. Under this project, a modern 40-seater cruise ship manufactured in Mumbai will be operated in Yamuna. It will have premium facilities like music, food and entertainment available to the passengers. The special feature of the cruise will be that it will make a one-hour “round trip” on Yamuna, giving passengers a unique experience in the heart of the capital.
According to sources, the Delhi government is considering starting cruise service on Yamuna river next month under its tourism development programme. The cruise ship prepared in Mumbai for this project has been brought to Delhi in January itself. It is a modern 40-seater ship with lavish and elaborate interiors keeping in mind the comfort and experience of the passengers.
Cruise ship ready for operation
According to sources, the cruise ship is now fully equipped with all the necessary equipment and is considered ready for operation. This service will be started soon in Yamuna river, which is likely to be inaugurated by Rekha Gupta. Date can be announced within 15 days
According to sources, the Delhi government may officially announce the start date of Yamuna cruise service within the next 15 days. This cruise service will operate on the Yamuna River and is designed to provide passengers with a unique and entertaining experience within the capital. There will be a ’round trip’ arrangement of about one hour, allowing tourists and locals to enjoy the riverside view and new tourism experience.
The project is said to be part of a comprehensive river bank development plan to develop Yamuna River not just as a water source but as a center of recreation and tourism. According to sources, the aim of the scheme is to transform the river bank areas into an attractive public space where people can enjoy leisure and recreational activities. In this sequence, the government is also preparing to start water sports and other recreational activities at the cruise terminal.

The government also plans that this experience should not be limited only to the premium class, but international level facilities should be made available at affordable prices, so that this tourism model can be accessible to a large section of the society.
