Book Titled “Wheat Fields of Punjab – The Spirit of Vaisakhi” released in Ludhiana

Book titled “Wheat Fields of Punjab – The Spirit of Vaisakhi”, was today gracefully unveiled for District Ludhiana by Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora along with Padma Shree Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, Member Parliament, Vice Chancellor PAU Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal and Vice Chancellor GADVASU Dr. JPS Gill during an event organized by Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.

The book has been authored by Harpreet Sandhu, State Information Commissioner, Punjab, the book celebrates the spirit of Punjab’s agrarian heritage significance of Wheat fields of Punjab and stands as a perfect tribute to the Soul of Punjab and hardwork of farmers. The book was formally released by Hon’ble Governor Punjab in Chandigarh on 14th April 2026.

The Author of the book State Information Commissioner Punjab Harpreet Sandhu said that the book showcases essence of Punjab’s agrarian heritage, its vibrant traditions and the silent poetry of its golden wheat fields landscapes.

The book has been prepared under the patronage of the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria. The publication of book by PAU stands as a visual tribute to Punjab’s rich agricultural legacy and the pivotal role played by scientific innovation in strengthening the state’s farming ecosystem. The book vividly portrays an exquisite collection of photographs showcasing diverse wheat crop varieties developed by Punjab Agricultural University.

These visuals have been magnificently captured through camera lens of Harpreet Sandhu, State Information Commissioner, Punjab over a dedicated period of nearly two year, with each frame reflecting not only the scientific excellence of the institution but also the cultural and emotional connect of Punjab with its golden fields during the harvest season of Vaisakhi.

Cabinet Minister Punjab Sanjeev Arora and Member Parliament, Padma Shree Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal said that the book reflects an extraordinary blend of artistic vision and commitment, meticulously documenting the journey of wheat from tender shoots to ripened golden expanses, portraying the essence of Punjab’s agrarian soul through photography underscoring a deep sense of respect for farmers, researchers, and the land itself.

Vice Chancellor PAU Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal and Vice Chancellor GADVASU Dr. JPS Gill stated that the book serves as both a visual delight and a meaningful volume of Punjab’s agricultural achievements portraying the different wheat crop varieties reinforcing the significance of research by Punjab Agricultural University. Several prominent wheat research experts, scientists, writers and intellectuals were present during the function held at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.
