Surya told the whole story
While talking to the broadcaster after the match, Suryakumar Yadav told the story behind this iconic photo. He said that this was a dream come true moment for him.
Surya told, "When I thought that I would play World Cup cricket for India and win matches, I never thought that I would get a chance to captain the team. By the grace of God, got a chance to win the 2026 T20 World Cup."
India won the title by defeating New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in March 2026. In the final, India made 255/5 and bowled out New Zealand for 159. With this victory, Suryakumar became the third Indian captain to win the T20 World Cup. Before this, Dhoni was the captain in 2007 and Rohit in 2024.
How did the photo happen?
Surya further said, "Before playing the first match in Chennai, it came to my mind that if all three World Cup winning captains come together in the photo, then it will become a lifetime memorable moment. When I came here yesterday, I saw a 1 percent chance. I first asked Rohit Bhai, then talked to Mahi Bhai. Both of them said yes. Then without any delay I got the photo taken early in the morning."
Surya said, "This is a very special moment for me and also for the whole of India. It was memorable to win in 2026 in the same stadium where we could not win in 2023."
