Bengal Election Result: Mamata Banerjee said on BJP’s lead in the trends – Candidates should not leave the counting centre, this is a trick of BJP.

Kolkata, 4 May. TMC candidate from Bhawanipur and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “Counting agents and candidates should not leave the counting centre. This is BJP’s trick; I have been saying this since yesterday that they will show them first. They have stopped the counting at many places. Machines have been found in Kalyani which have no match; TMC is being harassed from all sides by the central forces. Through SIR, they tried to steal votes, and Even now we are ahead on more than 100 seats, which is not being reported. Everything is being reported wrongly.

The Election Commission is acting completely as per its wish, and the central forces are also with them. The police are also working closely with the central forces. I tell the party workers that there is no need to be disappointed; Only you will win after the sun sets. 2-4 rounds have been counted, the counting continues till 14-18 rounds, and we will win. There is no need for anyone to fear.” Let us tell you that according to ECI data, BJP is leading on 183 and TMC-91 seats.

In the trends, TMC’s account was not even opened in four districts.

A major change is being seen in the trends of vote counting for the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026. Amidst the ongoing counting of 293 seats, four such districts have emerged where Trinamool Congress (TMC) does not even seem to be able to open its account. The four districts where TMC’s account is not visible include Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri in North Bengal and Jhargram and Paschim Bardhaman in South Bengal. Bharatiya Janata Party candidates are leading in the trends till 10:30 am in four assembly seats of Jhargram district. These seats include Nayagram, Gopiballavpur, Jhargram, and Binpur (ST).

Jhargram area is part of the tribal-dominated Jangalmahal area, which was once a stronghold of the CPI(M), but after 2011 it had become a strong base of the Trinamool Congress. This area was also known for Maoist activities in the last years of the Left Front. BJP is also leading on five seats in Alipurduar district. These include Kumaragram (ST), Kalchini (ST), Alipurduar, Falakata (SC) and Madarihat (ST). Similarly, BJP candidates are leading on seven seats in Jalpaiguri district also. These include Dhupguri (SC), Maynaguri (SC), Jalpaiguri (SC), Rajganj (SC), Dabgram-Phulbari, Mal (ST) and Nagarakata (ST). Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar fall in the Terai and Dooars region of West Bengal, where tribal and Rajbanshi voters working in tea gardens play a key role in the election outcome.

BJP is also leading on seven seats of West Bardhaman district (Pandabeshwar, Durgapur East, Durgapur West, Raniganj, Jamuria, Asansol South and Asansol North). Especially in Asansol South seat, current BJP MLA and fashion designer-turned-politician Agnimitra Paul is leading. West Bardhaman is known for coal mining and steel industry. Let us tell you that during the election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also claimed that this time there will be many districts in West Bengal where Trinamool Congress will not even be able to open its account. Initial trends seem to be pointing in this direction.
