Phil Salt returns home amid IPL 2026, will he play for RCB again or not?
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is in a very strong position in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. By winning 6 out of 9 matches, it has occupied the second position in the points table. RCB is standing on the threshold of playoffs. He now needs at least 2 wins in 5 matches to secure his place in the top-4.
It is considered certain that RCB will reach the playoffs but at this crucial juncture of the tournament, it has suffered a big setback. The team’s strong opener Phil Salt has returned to his home. Salt had missed the last 3 matches of RCB due to a finger injury.

Salt returned to UK for scan
RCB did not reveal the nature of Salt’s injury but ESPNcricinfo reported that he had a fractured finger. According to reports, Salt has returned to the UK after the injury to spend time with his family and has also undergone a scan of his finger. RCB is hopeful that Salt will recover from injury soon. Therefore his replacement has not been announced.

Bethel will open with Kohli
Before getting injured, Salt had scored 202 runs in 6 innings at a strike rate of 168.33. In his presence, Jacob Bethel is opening for RCB along with Virat Kohli. Bethel’s performance has not been anything special but it is understood that till Salt becomes fit, he will open the innings with Kohli.
