Bus service will reach every village, UP’s ‘Mukhyamantri Gram Parivahan Yojana’ will change the picture of rural travel.

A big step is being taken towards strengthening the rural transport system in Uttar Pradesh. In many districts of the state including Rae Bareli, preparations are now being made to provide bus service to such villages, where public transport facilities were not available till date. Under the ‘Mukhyamantri Gram Parivahan Yojana’, the Transport Department is preparing new bus routes, which is expected to provide relief to the people of rural areas.

Preparation to connect 988 gram panchayats

According to the report, a target has been set to connect all 988 gram panchayats of Rae Bareli district with the transport network. For this, the Transport Corporation is conducting a fresh survey. Officials have been instructed to identify such villages and areas where regular bus service is not yet available.

The objective of the scheme is not only to provide travel facilities but also to connect rural areas with education, health and employment. For a long time, people in rural areas were dependent on private vehicles or expensive means of transportation, which increased the financial burden.

Students and farmers will benefit greatly

Students, farmers and the labor class are likely to benefit most from the new bus services. College going students will get relief due to better connectivity from villages to cities. Farmers will be able to easily transport their produce to the markets.

This scheme is also considered very important for rural women and elderly people. Easy access to hospitals and government offices will reduce many problems of daily life.

Local economy will get a boost

Experts believe that better transportation system is the backbone of economic development of any region. Small traders and rural markets will also benefit from the start of bus services. With improved transportation facilities in villages, business activities will increase and local employment opportunities can also be created.

Along with this, the Transport Department is also working on a plan to develop small bus stops and passenger facilities in rural areas.

Government’s focus on rural connectivity

The state government has been continuously emphasizing on strengthening the road and transport infrastructure for the last few years. After expressways, rural roads and electric bus services, this is now being considered a big step towards providing regular public transport to villages.
