Petrol-Diesel Price Today: Fuel in India amid global tension
According to the latest updates from Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, no major change has been seen in the prices of petrol and diesel in the country on Saturday (May 9).
Business News: Despite huge fluctuations in the prices of crude oil in the international market, the prices of petrol and diesel in India currently remain stable. There has been no major change in fuel rates across the country on 9 May 2026. However, international energy markets remain volatile due to rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and pressure on global supply chains.
Experts believe that if the rise in global crude oil prices continues for a long time, its impact may be visible on the Indian market in the coming months. At present, the government is adopting the strategy of controlling domestic fuel prices to provide relief to the consumers.
Why did oil prices increase in the global market?
In recent times, increased military tension between America and Iran has affected the international oil market. Investors’ concerns have increased due to fears of conflict and possible supply disruptions. According to reports:
- An increase of about 2.9% was recorded in the price of Brent crude oil.
- Crude oil reached near $103 per barrel.
- Earlier, at the end of April, its price had reached about $126 per barrel, which was considered to be the highest level in the last four years.
- Later the prices softened slightly and were seen trading around $97 per barrel.
Energy experts say ongoing instability in the Middle East could affect global oil supply, as the region is among the world’s largest oil producing areas.
