Tamil Nadu: Thalapathy Vijay will take oath as Chief Minister today at 10 am, letter issued from Lok Bhavan

Chennai9 May. Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar finally accepted Tamil Nadu’s Tamil Nadu leader Joseph Vijay’s claim to form the government after his fourth consecutive meeting in four days, which emerged as the single largest party in the state assembly elections.

The Governor 13 Time given till May to prove majority in Assembly

TVK leader popularly known as Thalapathy Vijay will now be the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. He will take the oath of office and secrecy at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Sunday at 10 am. The Governor has given time to Vijay to prove his majority (vote of trust) in the Assembly on or before May 13, 2026.

Vijay could give the figure of absolute majority in the meeting with the Governor for the fourth consecutive day.

Interestingly, TVK chief Vijay had met Governor Arlekar for the fourth consecutive day on Saturday amid the political crisis that had been going on for the last four days to gather the majority figure of 118 seats. Vijay submitted a letter of support from 121 MLAs to the Governor, which is much more than the majority figure of 118. TVK has the support of Congress, CPI, CPI(M), VCK and IUML.

Vijay reaching CM’s chair is no less than a film climax.

To be honest, actor-turned-politician Vijay’s rise to the post of Chief Minister was no less than a film climax. In the first meeting with the Governor four days ago, TVK staked claim with 112 MLAs, but the Governor asked for more figures to prove the majority (118). Till Friday the figure was stuck at 116 because there was a delay in receiving letters of support from VCK and IUML. TVK’s tally reached 121 after the ‘unconditional support’ of IUML and VCK during the day on Saturday, paving the way for government formation.

It is noteworthy that no party got a clear majority in the election results. TVK has emerged as the largest party by winning 108 seats. Now Vijay will become the first leader from outside the DMK and AIADMK alliances since 1967 to lead the Tamil Nadu government.
