Weather will change again in Delhi-NCR, IMD issues rain-storm alert

New Delhi:The weather is going to take a turn once again in North-West India including Delhi-NCR. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms, rain and strong winds in many states between May 11 and 14. According to the Meteorological Department, during this time winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour and rain with thunder and lightning can be recorded in many areas.

After the rain in the last few days, there was a slight increase in the temperature in Delhi, but people are expected to get relief from the heat in the coming days. IMD has issued a yellow alert for the capital Delhi on 11 and 12 May. The department says that due to strong winds and movement of clouds the weather may remain pleasant.

Yellow alert issued in Delhi-NCR

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather pattern may remain changed in Delhi-NCR for the next few days. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with strong winds. The department has advised people to be cautious, especially to avoid standing in open places and under trees.

Chances of rain in many states of North-West India

According to IMD, there may be rain and thundershowers at isolated places in many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. At the same time, there is a possibility of bad weather in hilly states like Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Heatwave threat in Rajasthan and Gujarat

While on one hand an alert of rain and storm has been issued in many states, on the other hand, heat wave conditions may persist in some areas of Western Rajasthan and Gujarat for the next seven days. IMD has advised people not to stay out in the sun for too long in the afternoon and to drink adequate amount of water.

Possibility of heavy rain in South India also

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather may worsen in many states of South India. There is a possibility of heavy rain, lightning and strong winds for the next one week in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
