During 2024, women had made serious allegations related to sexual harassment and violence in Sandeshkhali area. During the investigation process of this case, questions were raised on the role of IPS Papiya Sultana.

The latest controversy is said to be related to a public political event, where a swearing-in ceremony was held in the presence of the Prime Minister. It is alleged that during this period, some BJP MLAs could not get proper seating arrangements and this is being linked to protocol violation.
The discussion started on the basis of some pictures and claims viral on social media that there was a lack of etiquette and coordination between the officials and public representatives present in the program.
