PM said, ‘Don’t buy gold’, Rahul Gandhi surrounded, said- ‘Preaching is proof of failure’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the countrymen to make several changes to reduce the energy crisis caused by the US-Iran war. He gave suggestions like working from home, not buying gold and using less petrol and diesel. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi has termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal as proof of his failure.

During an event in Hyderabad on Sunday, PM Modi said that in this time of global crisis, people should make some sacrifices in the national interest. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that as far as possible, people should work from home, use metro or public transport, carpooling and postpone foreign travel for at least a year. ‘This is not a sermon, it is evidence of failure’

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition, Lok Sabha:-
Modi asked for sacrifices from the public yesterday. Don’t buy gold, don’t go abroad, burn less petrol, reduce fertilizer and cooking oil, take the metro, work from home. This is not advice, this is evidence of failure.

‘Brought to this point in 12 years…’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ‘In 12 years, the country has reached such a stage that the public has to be told what to buy, what not to buy, where to go, where not to go. Every time they put the responsibility on the public so that they themselves can escape accountability.

Why has PM Modi made this appeal?

On February 28, war broke out between America and Iran. The war dragged on for about 2 months, now there is a temporary ceasefire. The supply of petrol and diesel has been badly affected across the world. Gas supply has been disrupted and the value of rupee is falling. Economic experts say that these products are imported from abroad, hence they are traded in foreign currency or dollars. This exercise is being done to avoid the falling value of rupee.

Opposition also surrounded PM Modi on this appeal

The Congress party termed the PM’s appeal as ‘proof of failure’. KC Venugopal said that PM Modi has completely failed to ensure India’s energy security. He has called it shameful, careless and immoral. He says that the government is putting people in trouble.

Akhilesh Yadav, President, Samajwadi Party:-
By the way, why are all the restrictions remembered only after the elections? Were the thousands of charter air trips undertaken by the BJP during the elections a drain on water? Were they not staying in hotels or were they cooking and eating food after posting the cylinder’s photo? Why didn’t the BJP campaign through video conferencing in the elections itself? Are all restrictions only for the public?

Akhilesh Yadav has also cornered the central government. He said, ‘The BJP should appeal not to the public but to their corrupt people for not buying gold because anyway the public is not able to buy gold worth 1.5 lakh tola. It is the BJP people who are busy converting their black money into gold. If you think what we are saying is wrong, then find out from Lucknow to Gorakhpur or from Ahmedabad to Guwahati.
