Barrier toll system started at Mundka toll of Delhi, second digital toll of the country

New Delhi. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) Barrier-Less Tolling system at Mundka-Bakkarwala Toll Plaza at UER-II, Delhi. This is the second such digital toll system in the country. Earlier this system has been started at Chorayasi toll plaza in Gujarat.

After the implementation of the new system, vehicles will not need to stop or slow down at the toll plaza. Toll charges will be automatically deducted by identifying the vehicles through high-resolution cameras, ANPR, RFID, Radar, Lidar and Fastag based digital network. According to NHAI, this system will be completely barrier-less and will not require any manual intervention.

The government says that this technology will reduce long queues and traffic jams at toll plazas. Vehicles will be able to pass at normal speed, which will reduce travel time, save fuel and reduce pollution. According to officials, the entire process will be based on real-time monitoring and data analytics, which will make toll collection more transparent and prevent revenue leakage.
