PM Modi urges citizens to cut imports, save fuel, and ease foreign exchange burden:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again appealed to Indians to reduce dependence on imports and limit activities that drain foreign exchange. Speaking in Vadodara at the inauguration of the Sardardham hostel complex, he reminded the audience that citizens have always stepped up during wars and crises, and now is another moment to act responsibly.
Modi emphasized the importance of saving fuel, using public transport, and adopting electric vehicles. He also suggested that people postpone buying gold, noting that India spends enormous sums of foreign exchange on imported goods. “Every small effort counts. Just as every drop fills a pot, we must all contribute by cutting down on unnecessary imports and foreign spending,” he said.
Sardardham hostel inaugurated
The newly opened Sardardham hostel in Vadodara will house 1,000 boys and 1,000 girls, with facilities including a dining hall, library, and auditorium. Modi toured the campus, inspecting the reception, e-library, and dining areas. He was also honored with the Sardar Gaurav Ratna award during the event.
The Prime Minister highlighted several new initiatives launched alongside the hostel, including the Dr. Dushyant and Daksha Patel Complex and the Shikshan Sahay Yojana. He described these projects as “launchpads for the future careers of youth” and vital contributions to nation-building.
Praise for BJP’s electoral performance
Modi also touched on recent election results, commending Gujarat voters for their support in municipal and panchayat polls. He said the state’s preference for political stability reflects foresight, adding that stability accelerates economic growth. He noted that results from Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry have generated enthusiasm nationwide.
