Seeing the controversy increasing, Badrinath gave clarification on social media platform X. He said his statement was misinterpreted. According to Badrinath, he was just praising Rickelton’s sportsmanship. He wrote that it was a colloquial Tamil expression, the meaning of which was misinterpreted.

He said in the post, ‘I said there should not be a ‘leave it there’ attitude. I will personally go and help him. It was a wonderful gesture by Rickelton and Mumbai Indians should get fair play points for this.
