IGOM Meeting Chaired By Rajnath Singh: Don’t panic, government is taking concrete steps for energy supply, Rajnath Singh spoke to the public after the IGOM meeting.

New Delhi. The fifth meeting of the Informal Group of Ministers (IGOM) was held today under the chairmanship of Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The meeting reviewed the risks to energy supply chains and availability of essential commodities in view of the ongoing conflict in West Asia. After the meeting, Rajnath Singh said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing commendable work in ensuring the supply of all essential commodities. I urge the public to remain calm and avoid any kind of panic, as the government is taking concrete steps to prevent shortages or disruptions in supply chains.

Rajnath Singh said that Prime Minister Modi’s appeal for collective participation of the public to help the country face global disruptions and challenges will prove to be an important step towards ensuring self-reliance and energy security. This is the Prime Minister’s broader message about conservation in difficult global times. Meanwhile, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Petroleum Ministry, said that due to the West Asia crisis, the global energy supply has been disrupted and a lot of price fluctuations are being seen in the international market. However, the Government of India has taken several effective steps and attempted to ensure that fuel supply reaches the common consumer with minimum inconvenience.

The Joint Secretary said that as a result of all these measures, our crude oil reserves are intact and safe. Our refineries are operating at optimum levels. No oil shortage has been reported at any retail outlet. Similarly, no shortage of oil has been reported at LPG distributors either. Adequate stocks of petrol and diesel are available and supply of LPG for domestic cooking is being ensured.
