Before going to Mussoorie-Rishikesh, see the new ‘Mega Traffic Plan’ of Doon Police, your weekend will be saved from jam.
Dehradun-Mussoorie Weekend Traffic Plan: If you are planning to go to Mussoorie, Rishikesh or Chakrata this weekend to enjoy the beautiful valleys of Uttarakhand, then this news is very important for you. Amidst the increasing heat, a large number of tourists from the plains are moving to Uttarakhand. To handle this huge crowd of tourists and increasing traffic pressure, Dehradun Police has prepared a comprehensive and special traffic plan. The main objective of this scheme is to save tourists and local citizens from the problem of traffic jam and to maintain smooth traffic.
5 super zones and deployment of drones for security and surveillance
According to senior police officials of Dehradun, to make the traffic management effective during the weekend, the entire city area has been divided into 5 super zones, 10 zones and 18 sectors. A total of 180 officers and employees have been specially deployed to maintain security and order. The most important thing is that this time the police will keep an eye not only from the ground but also from the sky. For this, three separate drone teams have been formed, which will monitor the Mussoorie route and the major roads of Dehradun city from moment to moment.
Special route for those coming from Delhi and Haryana
Two special plans have been prepared for tourists coming from Delhi, Haryana, Meerut and Saharanpur. Under Plan ‘A’, vehicles will be able to go to Mussoorie from Purukul village via Kuthalgate via Datkali via RTO Chowk and ISBT, Ballupur and Supply Depot. Whereas, in Plan ‘B’, vehicles will be sent from Transport Nagar to Mussoorie via Hathipaon via Kimadi via St. Jude Chowk and Bijapur village. For the travelers going to Chakrata, the route of Shimla Bypass and Langha Road has been decided.
Route from Rishikesh and Haridwar to Mussoorie
Vehicles coming from Rishikesh will be sent to Kuthalgate via IT Park via Thano Road, Maharana Pratap Tiraha and Sahastradhara Crossing. If the traffic pressure is high, then alternative route from Doiwala via Mianwala and Natthuwala will be used. The police have also decided on a separate route for the return journey so that there is no jam due to oncoming traffic. On return, vehicles will be able to reach their destination from Kuthalgate via Old Rajpur Road and Sai Mandir.
Three-tier plan for parking in Mussoorie
In view of the long queues of vehicles in Mussoorie, the police has made a three-phase plan. In Plan ‘A’, vehicles will be able to move normally until the parking is 90 percent filled. When the parking is full, Plan ‘B’ will be implemented, under which tourists will have to park their cars in Kingcraig parking and take local taxis. If the situation becomes more challenging, then under Plan ‘C’ vehicles will be diverted from Gajji Band towards Hathipaon.
‘ABC’ traffic plan for Rishikesh
In Rishikesh too, ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ plans have been implemented to control the crowd. Under normal circumstances, vehicles will be able to go to Shivpuri via Natraj Chowk and Tapovan. As pressure increases, vehicles will be sent via Laltappad, Bhaniyawala and Ranipokhari. In case of excessive crowd, the option of Narendra Nagar route has been kept open. Separate evacuation routes have also been ensured for tourists returning after the weekend so that the pressure on the National Highway is reduced.
Special attention on malls and tourist places
Diversion plans are also ready for busy areas within the city like Pacific Mall, Centrio Mall, Guchupani and Sahastradhara. If more vehicles reach these places than the capacity, the police will put up barriers and divert the traffic to alternative routes like Canal Road or Maldevta Road. Along with this, the rules of no-entry at night for heavy vehicles will be strictly followed. The police administration has appealed to all the tourists to follow this traffic plan and cooperate in maintaining peace.
