Lucknow. After the start of the new session in UP, the bags have been empty for the last 40 days. BJP just clapped in the name of education. The BJP government trumpets ‘Digital India’ and ‘Padhega India’ from big platforms, but children in the secondary schools of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, are yearning for books. Even after 40 days have passed since the session started, 50 thousand students are still empty handed.

UP Congress Party wrote on its official website that is this the ‘good governance’ of BJP? The government that is strangling the right to education should answer that how will children prepare for exams without books?

Let us tell you that children of classes 6 to 8 studying in most of the secondary schools run by UP Board in urban and rural areas have not received government books. Even after 40 days of the new academic session, children’s bags are empty. On the lines of primary schools, there is a rule to provide free basic education to the children of these schools. Books have reached a large extent in primary schools, but till Friday, books for children of most secondary schools were not received. In some schools only half-finished kits have reached. Under the Right to Education Act, there is a provision to provide free books to children aged six to 14 years.

Books and workbooks are provided free of cost to children of classes 1 to 8 by the Basic Education Department. About 50 thousand children are registered in 101 non-government aided schools, 50 government and more than 600 private schools in Lucknow. Here, students from classes 9 to 12 are taught from NCERT textbooks nominated by the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council. Books are being provided by setting up block bar book stalls, but children of classes six to eight are not able to get books. Headmasters of many schools have raised the demand for books from the authorities. On Sunday, a stall of NCERT books was set up for the students of classes 9 to 12 at Rampal Trivedi Inter College in Gosaiganj. Children bought cheap books from here.

Teachers say that they are not able to practice at home without books.

Teachers say that children are not able to study without books. It is taught in school, but due to lack of books and workbooks, children are not practicing at home. Children and parents are coming to school and pressurizing teachers to give them books. Teachers say that these government books are not available in the market. Due to which children are facing difficulties in teaching without books.
