Jennifer Harman, veteran Broadway actor, dies at 82

Jennifer Harmon, the veteran stage and television actress known for her long-running Broadway career and role on One Life to Livehas died at the age of 82.

On Saturday, May 9, Harmon’s family announced the news of her death, but the cause of death wasn’t disclosed.

Born on December 3, 1943, Harmon built a respected career on the New York stage, appearing in 21 Broadway productions across more than four decades.

She made her Broadway debut in You Can’t Take It With You and later appeared in acclaimed productions including The Sisters Rosensweig, The Glass Menagerie and Seascape.

Harmon was also widely recognised for stepping into leading roles as an understudy for celebrated actresses, including Stockard Channing, Judi Dench, and Jessica Lange.

On television, she became familiar to daytime audiences after taking over the role of Cathy Craig Lord on One Life to Live from 1976 to 1978. Her character became a fan favourite opposite heroine Viki Lord, played by Erika Slezak.

Harmon also appeared in numerous television dramas over the years, including Law & Order, Oz, and The Good Wife.

Her decades-long career earned admiration within both the theatre and television industries for her versatility and quiet consistency on stage and screen.
