‘Drishyam 3’ Hindi version will differ from Mohanlal’s film, says Abhishek Pathak
As Mohanlal’s highly anticipated Drishyam 3 approached its release, directors Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak shared insight about their involvement in Malayalam cinema and updates on Ajay Devgn’s Hindi versions of the franchise.
During an interview with ANI, Kumar explained that their interest in Malayalam films grew during the lockdown. “When the lockdown started, we watched a lot of Malayalam films. We realised that the content there is very good. Different types of films are being made and appreciated,” he said. He added that their team conducted research for one and a half years before joining Panorama Studios in producing Malayalam films.
Abhishek confirmed that Ajay’s Hindi version of Drishyam 3 is scheduled to release on October 2, a date closely associated with the franchise. “Drishyam 3 will be released on October 2. It is Drishyam Day—a date associated with the film. We are currently preparing for it. It is in post-production,” he stated.
He further explained that while both Malayalam and Hindi versions start from the same point, differences in storytelling and screenplay were made to suit the Hindi audience.
“You will understand the difference only when you watch the Hindi trailer. The Malayalam version is more of a family drama. Our Hindi audience has a different taste and palate. We made changes to the story and screenplay for this installment, and the audience will notice the difference,” Abhishek added.

Earlier, the director had explained the differences between the third film and its two preceding movies while the Mollywood actor suggested additional upcoming projects in the series.
He said, “The difference between the first and second parts and the third one is that Georgekutty doesn’t know whether someone is behind him and if so who it is. In the first two parts, he knew that the police and the dead boy’s family were after him. But in this one he doesn’t know who it is. I’m not saying there won’t be any elements that will surprise you.”
The Drishyam franchise revolves around Georgekutty and his family, who face suspicion after the son of a senior police officer goes missing. The first film was released in 2013, followed by the second installment in 2021.
Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 is set to release worldwide in cinemas on May 21, while Ajay Devgn’s Hindi version will follow on October 2.
