Houses were locked overnight, threat letter created sensation in village

Latehar, Jharkhand:- There was a stir in Dadh Dumra village of Bariatu police station area on Monday morning when the incident of receiving threatening letters along with locks and latches of many houses came to light. After the incident, there is an atmosphere of panic in the entire village. The victim’s family has demanded protection from the police.

According to the information, at around 5 am on Monday morning, Naresh Oraon was called by his brother Prakash Oraon and told that the door of the house has been closed from outside. Somehow an attempt was made to open the inner door and go out, but the main gate was found locked from outside. The gate on the south side street was also latched.

Meanwhile, a threatening message written on a paper was found near the main gate, in which the two brothers were warned to face “a situation like Soma Munda”. After receiving the letter, an atmosphere of fear was created in the entire village including the family.

The incident was immediately informed to Bariatu police station and dial 112. About two hours after receiving the information, the police reached the spot and broke the lock and took the family out. Villagers told that many other houses of the hamlet were also locked from outside.

Victim Naresh Oraon has expressed apprehension that this incident may have been carried out by the same people against whom FIR was lodged earlier. He said that his family is facing threat to life and property after the threatening letter.

At present, the police has started investigating the entire matter and there is a tense atmosphere in the village.
