Did Pakistan play a double game by becoming a mediator? Hides Iranian fighter jets at its airbase!

New Delhi: Pakistan, which is mediating to end the ongoing war between America and Iran, has taken a controversial step. According to the report of CBS News, Pakistan allowed Iranian military planes to be parked at its airports to protect them from American attacks. This information has been given quoting American officials.

Iranian aircraft at Noor Khan airbase

The report claims that a few days after US President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire in early April, Iran sent several aircraft to Pakistan’s Noor Khan Airport. These are also said to include the RC-130 reconnaissance aircraft of the Iranian Air Force, which is an intelligence version of the Lockheed C-130 Hercules.

Iran also tried to send some of its civilian planes to neighboring country Afghanistan. An Afghan civil aviation official said that an Iranian plane had reached Kabul just before the conflict started. However, Taliban’s chief spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid denied this. He said that there is no Iranian aircraft in Afghanistan and Iran did not need it.

Pakistani official’s denial

These allegations have been completely rejected by Pakistan. A senior Pakistani official told CBS News that Noor Khan Air Base is located in the center of the city. It is impossible to hide such a large fleet there.

US senator’s statement

US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham reacted sharply to this report. He questioned Pakistan’s mediatory role and demanded a complete re-evaluation. Pakistan remained the mediator in this war which started on 28 February and was postponed on 8 April.

Graham wrote on social media platform X that if the report is true then it will be necessary to reconsider the role of Pakistan. He also mentioned some old statements of Pakistani officials towards Iran.

balance between the two sides

According to CBS News, Pakistan tried to maintain a balance between the two sides during the crisis. It wanted to portray itself as a stable mediator to the US, but at the same time avoided steps that might anger Iran or its strong supporter China.
