High alert at Hyderabad airport, bomb threat to flight coming from Amsterdam
Hyderabad:There was panic at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Sunday when a bomb threat was received on a flight coming from Amsterdam, Netherlands. After this warning received through email, the airport administration and security agencies immediately came on alert mode. After the incident, security arrangements were tightened in the entire airport complex.
According to sources, this threatening email was sent to the customer service department of the airport in the early hours of Sunday. The email claimed that an “unmanned bomb” had been planted on a Kuala Lumpur Airways flight from Amsterdam to Shamshabad. The message also said that the explosion could happen at any time and could happen even before the plane reached its destination.
The flight landed safely, investigation continues
Despite receiving threats, the concerned plane landed safely at Hyderabad airport. Immediately after landing, airport authorities sent the plane to the isolation bay, where security agencies and bomb disposal squads began a thorough investigation.
At present, a detailed investigation of the aircraft and passengers is being done. Additional deployment of security forces has been made in the airport premises to deal with any possible threat.
Received threat for the third time in a row
It is being told that this is the third bomb threat that Shamshabad Airport has received in the last few days. Even before this, a threat was made to blow up the airport through two separate emails. After receiving continuous threats, security agencies are taking the matter seriously and are engaged in investigation.
The airport administration has kept an eye on the entire incident and instructions have been given not to take any carelessness till the security check is completed.
Security agencies on alert mode
After the threat, surveillance of the airport has been increased. The checking of incoming and outgoing flights and passengers has been made more strict than before. Security agencies are trying to identify the unknown person who sent the email.
Although no explosive material has been confirmed in the investigation so far, the continuous threats have increased the concern about airport security.
