PM Modi Visit: Warm welcome to PM Modi at Sweden airport, there will also be discussion on increasing investment and trade.

Gothenburg (Sweden). Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Sweden on Sunday, where he will hold talks on trade, technology, defense and other key areas. Before landing at Gothenburg airport, Prime Minister Modi’s plane was provided security by Swedish Air Force fighter planes. He was warmly welcomed at the airport by his Swedish counterpart Ulf Kristersson, indicating the importance of the visit.

PM Modi during his two-day visit to Sweden will focus talks on bilateral relations and explore new opportunities for cooperation to increase bilateral trade, which is projected to reach US$ 7.75 billion by 2025. Both sides will discuss deepening bilateral relations in areas such as transition to green energy, AI, emerging technologies, startups, resilient supply chains, defence, space, climate action and people-to-people ties.

Earlier, Modi had visited Sweden for the first India-Nordic summit in 2018. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, “The Prime Ministers of the two countries will also address the European Round Table for Industry, a major pan-European business leaders’ forum, along with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.”

This is the second leg of Modi’s four-nation European tour. He has visited Netherlands and in his presence India and Netherlands signed 17 agreements to enhance cooperation in defence, critical minerals and other key sectors. This weekend, he will also visit Norway and Italy.
