Kerala’s new CM will be sworn in today, these 20 names including VD Satheesan will take oath as ministers – see list
In Kerala, the swearing in of the post of CM is going to take place on Monday i.e. today, due to which the hustle and bustle of formation of the new government has intensified, while many faces have also come forward as to who can take oath as the CM on Monday. Giving information, VD Satheesan said that a list of 20 names has been given to the Governor of Kerala who will take oath as ministers. The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has almost reached a consensus on cabinet formation before the oath-taking of the Chief Minister.
According to sources, VD Satheesan, nominated for the post of Chief Minister, can take oath on Monday and the list of ministers is likely to be released before that. The formula for the distribution of ministries in the UDF government, which returned to power after almost a year, is considered to be almost fixed between the Congress and its allies. It is being told that Congress will get the maximum number of ministerial posts, while Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will also be given a significant stake in the government.

How many ministers will Congress get?
According to sources, it is being told that ‘Congress can get a total of 12 cabinet posts including the post of Chief Minister in the new government. At the same time, UDF’s main ally Indian Union Muslim League is likely to be given five ministerial posts. Apart from this, Chandy Oommen, son of former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy can also be included in the cabinet.
Which small parties can get a place?
According to sources, RSP, Kerala Congress (Joseph), Kerala Congress (Jacob) and CMP are likely to get one ministerial post each. However, the final list of ministers has not been officially announced yet.
Congress leader Shafi Parambil said on Sunday that the cabinet list can be released any time before the swearing-in ceremony on Monday. He said that ‘now is the time to fulfill the expectations of the public. Now the time has come to fulfill the needs of the people. We had asked for a chance from the public, the public has given us that chance, now it is our responsibility to give results. Parambil said that now is the time to live up to the expectations of the public and the government will focus on meeting the needs of the people. He further said that I believe that the list of cabinet ministers can be revealed in the next few hours. Tomorrow is the swearing-in ceremony, so in any case the list will be released before that.”
Will the list of ministers be submitted to the Governor soon?
PMA Salam also indicated that the process of ministry formation has reached the final stage. He said that the list of ministers will be handed over to the Governor before 4 pm on Sunday. Why is the role of IUML important?
The possibility of IUML getting five ministerial posts in the new government shows how important the party’s role is in the UDF alliance. Muslim League has long been considered a strong ally of Congress in Kerala politics.

On Sunday, VD Satheesan held a meeting with senior leaders at the KPCC office in Thiruvananthapuram and discussed finalizing the cabinet list. State Congress President Sunny Joseph and UDF convenor Adoor Prakash were also present in the meeting. It is being told that Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra can also attend the swearing-in ceremony. Many Chief Ministers of Congress ruled states can also attend the function. UDF ended the 10-year-old rule of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) by winning 102 seats in the 140-member Kerala Assembly. With this, the Congress led alliance has returned to power in the state.
