Controversy increases over allegations of demolition of houses in Balochistan, human rights organization raises questions
Quetta. Allegations of demolition of civilian homes during alleged military action in Balochistan’s Awaran district have once again intensified the debate over the human rights situation in the region. A Baloch human rights organization expressed serious concern over the incident, calling it part of a mass action against civilians.
The organization affiliated with the Human Rights Department alleged that houses of two local residents were demolished by bulldozers during the operation in Pir Mashkai and Kallar area of Awaran district on May 13. The organization says such incidents have been reported in the region before, where families have reportedly faced pressure, damage to property and other harsh measures.
The organization claimed that the families concerned have been part of incidents involving disputes and security matters in the past. However, these allegations could not be independently confirmed. There has been no immediate official reaction from Pakistan on these allegations.
The report also said that the incidents of two people reportedly missing in recent days have raised concerns in the local community. The names of a student and a migrant driver have been included in these. Human rights groups say that legal process and transparency should be ensured in such cases so that the affected families can get clear information.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident of firing in Kech district, the news of death of an elderly person has also come to light. Local sources claimed that the incident occurred during a security operation, although there are varying claims regarding its circumstances. Human rights organizations have appealed to international organizations and the United Nations to pay attention to the case. At the same time, the demand for an independent and impartial investigation into the situation in the area is also continuously being raised.
