Rain and hail alert in UP, will the heat wave break?
New Delhi: At present, the scorching heat in many parts of the country is increasing the problems of the people. Especially in the states of North India and Central India, the temperature is continuously reaching dangerous levels. According to the Meteorological Department, heatwave conditions may persist for the next seven days. However, it is a matter of relief that the weather may take a turn in the last days of May and many states will see a drop in temperature.
What do meteorologists say?
Meteorologists say that after May 29, the effect of heat may reduce due to rain and strong winds in many areas of North India. There is a possibility of rain and hailstorm in Western Uttar Pradesh on May 29 and 30, while in Eastern Uttar Pradesh the weather may change on May 28 and 29. Apart from this, heavy to very heavy rain has been predicted in the southern and north-eastern parts of the country for the next few days.
During the last 24 hours, maximum temperatures ranging from 43 to 47 degrees Celsius were recorded in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, Central India and East India. At the same time, in most other areas of the country the temperature remained between 40 to 43 degrees. The weather remained relatively normal only in Northeast India, Western Himalayan regions and some parts of South India.
Talking about the North-Eastern states, heavy rains, lightning and strong winds are likely to continue in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. The Meteorological Department has also issued a warning of extremely heavy rain in parts of Assam and Meghalaya. Continuous rain is expected for the next few days in many states including Arunachal Pradesh.
Weather active in South India
The weather remains active in South India also. There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in many parts of Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. There is also a possibility of strong storm and hailstorm in some areas. The effect of heavy rain can be seen especially in Kerala and coastal areas.
There are signs of changing weather in the states of North-West India also. There is a possibility of rain and strong winds in the coming days in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. Hail alert has also been issued in some parts of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
The Meteorological Department says that at present the effect of heat will continue in large parts of the country, but many states are expected to get relief by the end of the month. Rain and strong winds will reduce the temperature, due to which people can get some relief from the scorching heat.
