Rahul-Kharge’s attack on the government regarding inflation, said – as soon as the elections are over, petrol and diesel will be hit by ₹ 8
New Delhi, 25 May. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Party President Mallikarjun Kharge have launched a scathing attack on the Modi government over the fourth consecutive increase in the prices of petrol and diesel. On Monday, petrol price in Delhi increased by ₹2.61 per liter to ₹102.12 per litre, while diesel became costlier by ₹2.71 per liter to ₹95.20 per litre. This is the fourth increase in less than two weeks. During this period, petrol has become costlier by ₹7.35 and diesel by ₹7.53 per litre.
Rahul Gandhi posted on ‘X’ and said, “Inflation is again attacked by Manav Modi. The prices of petrol and diesel are increased in installments, so that your pockets can be secretly saved.” He alleged that as soon as the elections were over, the government had made petrol and diesel costlier by about eight rupees. Rahul said that Modi makes promises in elections and the rest of the time he attacks the public’s pockets.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge described it as “daily robbery”. “The daily onslaught of fuel looting is far from over,” he wrote. Kharge claimed that the Modi government has sprinkled petrol to burn the savings of common people. Comparing the UPA and NDA regimes, Kharge said that international crude oil prices had increased by 175.34% during 2004-2014, while crude oil prices remained almost stable during the tenure of the Modi government.
Despite this, petrol increased from ₹ 71.41 to ₹ 102.12 and diesel from ₹ 56.71 to ₹ 95.20 in 2014. He alleged that the Modi government has “looted” Rs 43 lakh crore in the last 12 years and questioned who is benefiting from this daily robbery. This increase is considered to put additional burden on consumers, especially when inflation and daily expenses are increasing. The prices of necessities are already running high.
