Police have arrested the accused after an encounter in the case of deadly attack on a family sleeping on the terrace in Phase-1 area of Noida police station. The arrested accused has been identified as Harnam Singh. Police have recovered the knife used in the incident, an illegal pistol and a stolen scooter from his possession.
According to the police, on the night of 23rd and 24th May, Surendra Sharma was sleeping with his family on the terrace of the house in Harola Chowki area. Meanwhile, accused Harnam Singh reached there and attacked the family members with a knife. Surendra Sharma, his wife Sanju Devi and their two daughters were seriously injured in the attack. The injured were immediately admitted to the hospital, where Sanju Devi died during treatment. After sending the body for post-mortem, the police immediately registered a case under other sections including murder and started investigation.
A reward of Rs 25 thousand was announced on the accused.
The police had formed several teams to arrest the accused. Besides, a reward of Rs 25,000 was also announced on absconding Harnam Singh. Police say that on Monday, while checking near a dirty drain in Sector-14, the accused had an encounter with the police. The accused was injured in retaliation, after which he was arrested. After that he was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Fear of enmity after refusal to marry
It is being told that the accused wanted to marry the daughter of the deceased. Although the family had denied this relationship. Due to this resentment, the accused attacked the family. Sanju Devi died in this attack, while her husband and two daughters were injured.
Cases have already been filed
According to the police, Harnam Singh is originally a resident of Magrasa village of Bhuta police station area of Bareilly district and was currently living in Harola. Cases have already been registered against him in various cases including the Excise Act.
The same ADCP Noida Manish Singh said, on the night of 23-24 May, an incident took place in Harola Chowki area of police station area Phase-1, in which Suresh Sharma was sleeping on the terrace with his family members. His family was attacked by a man with a knife. All of them were admitted to the hospital by the local police station, in which his wife Sanju Devi died. A case was registered in this regard under relevant sections.
Several teams were formed to search for Harnam Singh, the person who committed the incident. Today, Harnam Singh has been arrested during a police encounter in Police Station Phase-1 area near a dirty drain. A double-edged knife, an illegal pistol and a stolen scooter have been recovered from him. The accused has been arrested and sent to the hospital for treatment. Further action is being taken.
