IPL 2026 Playoff Scenario: The league stage of the Indian Premier League 2026 has ended and now the exciting playoff round of the tournament is about to begin. Qualifier-1 will be played on May 26, while the eliminator match will be held on May 27. After this, Qualifier-2 will be played on 29th May and the title match will be played on 31st May. Let us know what is the difference between Qualifier-1, Qualifier-2 and Eliminator matches and how important they are in the path to the final.

Qualifier-1

This match is played between the two top teams in the league matches. In IPL 2026, Royal Challengers Bangalore topped with 18 points, while Gujarat Titans also scored 18 points, but due to a slight difference in net run rate, this team remained in second place.

Qualifier-1 will be played on 26th May at HPCA Stadium, Dharamshala, the winning team will directly reach the final, where it will face the team winning Qualifier-2. The title match is to be played on May 31 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The team that wins Qualifier-1 will have another chance to reach the finals.

eliminator

This match will be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 27 at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh. The team that wins the Eliminator will enter Qualifier-2. This team will have to win Eliminator and Qualifier-2 to reach the finals.

Qualifier-2

This match will also be held at Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh. In this match, the losing team of Qualifier-1 will face the winning team of Eliminator. The team that wins Qualifier-2 will be able to get the last ticket for the final.

This season, Royal Challengers Bangalore (2025), Gujarat Titans (2022), Sunrisers Hyderabad (2016) and Rajasthan Royals (2008) have qualified for the playoffs. These four teams have won the title once each. That means whichever team wins the title this time, it will be its second IPL title.
