Silence spread in the peace committee meeting

Regarding a sensitive festival like Bakrid, the meeting of the Sub-Divisional Peace Committee held in the Sub-Divisional Auditorium on Monday itself seemed to indicate “disturbance”. While the administration was claiming to conduct the festival in a peaceful atmosphere, the massive absence of officials, public representatives and committee members in the meeting turned the entire event into a mere affair.
The meeting was presided over by Sub-Divisional Officer Abhishek Kumar. The objective was to prepare a strategy regarding law and order, security arrangements and mutual harmony during the festival. But most of the chairs in the auditorium remained empty. Only a few people were seen present in this important meeting at the subdivision level.
The situation was such that the empty chairs themselves seemed to testify to administrative indifference. Those public representatives and committee members whose suggestions were to be used to solve the sensitive problems of the area remained absent from the meeting. This clearly indicated that the Peace Committee meetings are no longer being taken seriously. The officials present in the meeting reiterated the need for surveillance in sensitive areas, police patrolling and action against those spreading rumours. An appeal was also made to the people to maintain brotherhood. But the question that arises is that when most of the responsible people do not attend the meeting itself, how effective will the coordination be at the grassroots level?Silence spread in the peace committee meeting

Local people say that active participation in such meetings organized regarding the festival is very important. But this time the picture proved that administrative meetings are now limited to files and photos only. SDO Vibhash Kumar, DCLR Sanskar Ranjan, Health Manager S Adeeb Ahmed, Sajjan Kumar Sant, Bhumaneshwari Sah, Shyam Yadav, Bodhi Yadav, Jagdev Ram, DK Yadav, Pradeep Kumar Singh Munna, Manoj Kumar etc. were present in the meeting.
