SSC GD Constable Exam 2026 canceled due to overbooking issue
Kanpur . The General Duty (GD) examination of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to be held on Monday at a center in Kanpur was cancelled. This happened because double the number of admit cards were issued than the capacity of the examination centre.
The cancellation of the examination created chaos at the centre, following which senior officials and administrative officials had to intervene to bring the situation under control. The decision to cancel the examination was taken after talks with students and Commission officials.
On Monday, SSC conducted the SSC GD exam in two shifts at ‘Smt. Ramkali Iqbal Bahadur Online Centre’, Purvameer, Kanpur. The seating capacity of this center was 399, but in the second shift around 819 candidates who had admit cards reached to take the exam.
According to officials, when more than 360 students had entered, the center staff noticed that there was no seating space left for the remaining candidates; After this there was chaos.
Officials said the exams held in Purvamir on Monday have been cancelled, and students were assured that the new exam date would be informed soon through the official website or email.
SSC GD exam is conducted every year by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit candidates for the posts of Constable (General Duty) in different paramilitary forces and security organizations of the country. Every year thousands of candidates from all over India appear for this exam to get a place in the forces like Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and other central armed police forces.
As per the estimated vacancies, a total of 25,487 posts will be filled under this recruitment drive. These include 616 posts in BSF, 14,595 in CISF, 5,490 in CRPF, 1,764 in SSB, 1,293 in ITBP, 1,706 in Assam Rifles and 23 posts in SSF.
