Preparation to settle humans on the Moon by 2030, what is NASA’s complete plan?

Knews Desk- American space agency NASA is now busy preparing not only to send humans to the moon, but also to create a permanent base there. The agency has prepared a big roadmap to ensure the continued presence of humans by 2030. This entire mission is being run under the Artemis Program, whose aim is to prepare a base on the south pole of the Moon.

NASA has divided its Moon Base project into three parts. In the first phase, robotic missions, technical testing and necessary infrastructure will be prepared from 2026 to 2028. In the second phase, habitable modules, energy systems and communication networks will be installed on the moon between 2029 and 2032. In the third phase, the target has been set to ensure the continuous presence of humans after 2032.

New race will start from Artemis mission

NASA’s Artemis-II mission will carry four astronauts to lunar orbit in 2026. After this, humans will be landed again on the Moon in 2028 through Artemis-IV and Artemis-V missions. NASA plans to send regular missions every year thereafter.

Houses, rovers and power systems will be built on the moon

NASA does not want to be limited to just landing. The agency is preparing to install special Habitat Modules, Pressurized Rovers, Solar Power Grids and Nuclear Reactors to live on the Moon. Scientists believe that water ice is present on the south pole of the Moon, from which oxygen and fuel can be produced in the future.

Bigger role of Blue Origin and private companies

NASA has also included many private companies in this mission. Jeff Bezos’s company Blue Origin has been given a big contract to deliver equipment and rover to the Moon. Apart from this, companies like Astrolab, Lunar Outpost and Firefly Aerospace are also part of the mission.

Why is Moon Base mission special?

NASA believes that building a permanent base on the Moon will prove to be the biggest preparation to send humans to Mars in the future. America is also seeing this as a response to China’s increasing space missions. If this plan is successful, then in the coming decade humans will take steps towards living permanently outside the Earth for the first time.
