Hyderabad blown away by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s storm, Rajasthan Royals reached Qualifier-2
Tezzbuzz Desk- In the eliminator match of IPL 2026, Rajasthan Royals registered a spectacular victory by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 47 runs. On the basis of the explosive batting of young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Rajasthan has made it to Qualifier-2, where it will now face Gujarat Titans.
In this high-scoring match played in Mullanpur, Rajasthan Royals, batting first, scored 243 runs in 20 overs. This was the second highest score in IPL playoff history. In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad could score only 196 runs and were out of the tournament.
The biggest hero of Rajasthan’s victory was 15-year-old batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He played a stormy inning of 97 runs in just 29 balls. During this time, rain of fours and sixes was seen from his bat.
Vaibhav adopted an aggressive style from the beginning and took Rajasthan’s score to 125 runs in just 8 overs. Hyderabad bowlers looked completely helpless in front of his batting.
However, Vaibhav remained just 3 runs away from his century. He had a chance to break Chris Gayle’s record of fastest IPL century, but he was out on the 29th ball of his innings.
Even though Vaibhav missed the century, he made a big record in his name. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has now become the batsman who has hit the most sixes in a single season of IPL.
He has hit 65 sixes so far in IPL 2026. Earlier this record was in the name of Chris Gayle, who had hit 59 sixes in the 2012 season.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, which set out to chase the huge target of 243 runs, had a very bad start. The team’s leading batsmen Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen failed to play big innings. The middle order definitely struggled, but under the pressure of the ever-increasing run rate, the team could not make a comeback in the match.
After winning the eliminator, Rajasthan Royals will now face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier-2. Gujarat had lost against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first qualifier. This match will be played on 29th May at Mullanpur ground. The team that wins Qualifier-2 will face RCB in the final.
