MLA Sanjay Upadhyay met BMC Commissioner on Borivali problems!
BJP MLA from Borivali Assembly Sanjay Upadhyay met BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide on Wednesday and had a detailed discussion about the civic problems, public facilities and pending development works of Borivali area. During this, he raised many important issues related to metro service, encroachment, exploitation of contract employees, illegal activities and law and order. BMC Commissioner assured to give necessary instructions to the concerned departments and take immediate action on various demands.
Keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers, MLA Sanjay Upadhyay demanded to restart the direct metro service from Gundawali to DN Nagar and from DN Nagar to Gundawali. He said that due to the present system, thousands of passengers have to change their journey every day, due to which wastage of time and inconvenience is increasing. With the resumption of direct service, passengers will get great relief and the journey will become more convenient.
Upadhyay also raised the issue of giving low salaries to contract employees working in various departments of BMC and depriving them of basic facilities like ESIC and PF. He alleged that many contractors are violating the rights of employees. The MLA demanded that strict action should be taken against such contractors and the employees should be ensured salary and facilities as per rules.
The MLA expressed displeasure over the increasing encroachment around Borivali Metro Station and Link Road. He said that common citizens are facing a lot of problems due to illegal encroachments on footpaths, grounds and roads. Apart from this, there is an atmosphere of fear among the local citizens due to increase in incidents like molestation of women and girl students, theft and chain snatching.
Sanjay Upadhyay warned that if illegal encroachments are not removed by June 7, he will sit on a hunger strike with local citizens on June 8. He demanded immediate and effective action from the administration. The MLA alleged that some contractors were illegally hiring Bangladeshi and Rohingya workers. He demanded a thorough investigation of such people and strict action against the concerned contractors.
He also demanded action against tea, coffee, bhurji pav and pav bhaji stalls operating till late night in Borivali. According to Upadhyay, drugs and other illegal activities are being promoted under the guise of these stalls at many places. He demanded closure of such roadside businesses after 11 pm.
The MLA demanded completion of water supply, repair of roads, hospital facilities, beautification of ponds and other pending development works before the monsoon. BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide took a positive stance on all the issues and assured of early action.
