Well-known Urdu poet Bashir Badr has passed away. He said goodbye to the world at the age of 91. Many of Bashir Badr’s couplets still hold a special place in the hearts of millions of people. This is the reason why there is a wave of mourning among the fans after hearing the news of his demise. Javed Akhtar also condoled the demise of Bashir Badr. The biggest specialty of Bashir Badr’s poetry was that he used colloquial words very beautifully. Besides, he used to express the heartfelt feelings of millions of people through his poetry. He not only made a great contribution to Urdu poetry, but also taught Urdu language to the students as a professor in Aligarh Muslim University. He was also awarded the Padmashree award for his remarkable contribution to literature.

Javed Akhtar expressed grief

Javed Akhtar expressed grief over the demise of Bashir Badr. He wrote on X, ‘Today our Urdu language has become poor. Bashir Badr was such a poet who always used to organize gatherings. His poetry will always remain alive in our memories.

Bashir was not only a poet but also a professor.

Bashir Badr was born on 15 February 1935 in Uttar Pradesh. He was interested in poetry since childhood. He completed his higher education from Aligarh Muslim University and also did his PhD from there. After this he became a professor of Urdu. While teaching students in the university, he wrote many famous poems. He wrote many couplets regarding India-Pakistan.

Which couplet was recited in Shimla Agreement

Bashir Badr had written many couplets regarding the country and partition. One of these lions became very famous during the Shimla Agreement. It is said that Indira Gandhi had recited this couplet to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in 1972.
