Siddaramaiah resigns, no more Governor in Karnataka; Will take a decision after returning

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has resigned from his post on Thursday. In his place, Deputy CM DK Shivkumar will take oath as the Chief Minister. Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot is not in Bengaluru. He has gone to his home in Nagda, Madhya Pradesh. This is the reason why Siddaramaiah had to submit his resignation to the Governor’s office. The Governor will accept the resignation after returning from Madhya Pradesh.

 

After resigning, Siddaramaiah said, ‘I have submitted my resignation to the Governor’s office. The Governor is not here. They are returning tonight. For this reason I submitted my resignation to his office. On the other hand, Special Secretary to the Governor, Prabhu Shankar said that he has received Siddaramaiah’s resignation, but he will accept it only after the Governor returns.

In the press conference after resigning, Siddaramaiah said that I had repeatedly said that whenever the high command says. I will submit my resignation. He told that the High Command had asked me to resign two days ago. I have submitted my resignation today. I got the opportunity to serve the people of Karnataka twice, for which I thank Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.

 

Siddaramaiah had won two and a half years ago

Congress won the Karnataka Assembly elections in May 2023. After this, there was a race for the post of CM between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar. But Siddaramaiah won. Then there were reports that both would be made Chief Ministers in the rotational formula for two and a half years. Two days ago, the Congress high command asked for resignation from Siddaramaiah. A day earlier he had informed his cabinet about his resignation.

Rahul Gandhi had asked for resignation

According to reports, the Congress high command offered Siddaramaiah a Rajya Sabha seat in exchange for his resignation. Although he has not accepted it yet. There is also news that Rahul Gandhi had demanded resignation from Siddaramaiah. On Tuesday itself, the high command had summoned Siddaramaiah and DK Shivkumar to Delhi. A round of meetings took place at the party headquarters here with President Mallikarjun Kharge, MP Rahul Gandhi, Party General Secretary KC Venugopal and Randeep Surjewala.

Happiness among DK Shivakumar’s supporters

Siddaramaiah’s supporters demonstrated in different parts of Karnataka against his resignation. Even at his official residence, some supporters surrounded him and appealed not to resign. On the other hand, there is an atmosphere of celebration outside DK Shivakumar’s residence. On the other hand, the Chief Minister’s Office shared a photo. In this, Siddaramaiah is hugging Deputy CM Shivkumar. In another photo, DK Shivakumar touches the feet of Siddaramaiah.
