Big political change in Karnataka, Siddaramaiah will leave the post of CM today!
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Karnataka Minister HK Patil said, “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will resign at 3 o’clock. CM Siddaramaiah said that we will make DK Shivakumar the new CM.”
“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will visit Lok Bhavan today at 2:30 pm. Following this, he will address a press conference at his other official residence ‘Krishna’ at 3 pm,” an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office said.
Earlier Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar were called to Delhi. Here, the decision regarding CM was taken only after a long meeting with the party high command, but no official announcement was made, since then speculations were being made that this time ‘power transfer’ is going to happen in Karnataka.
While Siddaramaiah’s supporters were not satisfied with his resignation, DK Shivakumar’s supporters were already busy celebrating.
According to Congress sources, Siddaramaiah had gone to Delhi with a proposal for cabinet reshuffle and appointment of a new KPCC president in place of Shivkumar. However, sources claim that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi clearly told Siddaramaiah to complete the transfer of power smoothly without any new talks.
It is being told that Congress General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala and K.C. Venugopal also persuaded Siddaramaiah by saying that Rahul Gandhi gave him the opportunity to become the Chief Minister twice and now it is his turn to respect the party’s decision.
