A case of stabbing of 17 year old Surya Chauhan to death has come to light in Khoda area of Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place on the evening of May 28 in Navneet Vihar Colony. Based on the complaint of the family members, the police have registered the case and started investigation. The youth died during treatment on May 29, after which sections of murder were added.
According to the complaint lodged by the deceased’s brother Yash Chauhan, Surya was strolling near the house with his friends Vicky and Ayush. Meanwhile, his acquaintance Asad called him and asked him to come to a program organized on the occasion of Bakrid in street number 2. According to the complaint, Surya and his friends reached there where Nawab, Farhan, Atif and Sarik were also present along with Asad.
Quoting family members and eyewitnesses, the complaint said that the accused allegedly asked Surya, “Have you ever seen a goat being slaughtered?” After this there was a dispute over some issue and Surya was attacked with a knife.
According to the complaint, Surya was first stabbed in the stomach. Family members say that despite being seriously injured, he ran for about 200 meters to save himself. It is alleged that the attackers chased him, knocked him down and then stabbed him several times. After this the accused fled from the spot.
As soon as information about the incident was received, Surya’s mother and brother reached the spot. In critical condition, he was first taken to the local hospital and later admitted to Fortis Hospital, Sector-62, Noida. He died during treatment on the afternoon of 29 May.
Initially, the police had registered a case of attempt to murder based on the family’s complaint. However, after the death of the young man, the case was changed to murder. According to police officials, a detailed investigation of the matter is being done.
Indirapuram ACP Abhishek Srivastava said that some suspects in the case have been detained and interrogated. He said that the named main accused Asad is currently absconding and the search for him is going on. Police say that the role of all the accused is being investigated and further action will be taken based on the available evidence.
After the incident, a situation of tension arose in the area. Members of several Hindu organizations reached Khoda area and the local police station and demanded immediate arrest of all the accused. Additional police force has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order. Police officials have said that an impartial and detailed investigation into the case is underway. According to officials, based on whatever facts emerge in the investigation, strict legal action will be taken against those found responsible.
