Necessary Materials
Its main ingredients include ladyfinger as per requirement, one or half cup of gram dal soaked for two hours.
It includes mustard oil, cumin, asafoetida, onion, tomato, ginger-garlic paste, green chillies as well as turmeric, red chilli, coriander powder, garam masala and salt as per taste for tadka and gravy.
Main method of preparation
First of all, add some salt and water to the soaked chana dal in the cooker and cook it for one to two whistles, but keep in mind that the dal should not be completely soaked but should remain standing. Now after this, heat mustard oil in a pan and fry the chopped ladyfinger for four to five minutes so that its stickiness goes away, then keep it aside. Then add the tempering of cumin-asafoetida and fry onion, green chilli and ginger-garlic paste in the remaining oil and then add tomatoes and all the dry spices and cook till the oil leaves. Now add boiled lentils and fried ladyfinger to the spices, mix gently and cover and cook on low flame for at least a minute. After five minutes, when it is completely cooked, finally add garam masala and green coriander and serve. This dish can be eaten with hot roti, paratha or dal-rice.
