Unique flavor of Indian cultural heritage scattered in Shanghai

Shanghai. India’s timeless gift ‘Yoga’ and melodious presentations of the country’s vibrant classical music tradition enthralled the dignitaries from more than 70 countries at an event organized by the Government of China in Shanghai, China’s second largest city and industrial centre.

Four countries, including India, were invited to showcase their cultural heritage as ‘Countries of Honour’ at the annual ‘Consular Corps Cultural Charity Gala Dinner 2026’ in Shanghai. India’s Consul General Prateek Mathur represented the country at the event.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India brilliantly showcased its rich civilization, heritage and artistic traditions on this platform. During the presentation, India’s timeless gift of ‘Yoga’ to the world and the country’s vibrant classical music tradition were highlighted. Apart from this, Kuchipudi dance was presented in the function, the audience present there was delighted to see this mesmerizing dance.

Consul Generals, senior diplomats from more than 70 countries as well as business leaders and other dignitaries were present at the event, which celebrated cultural diversity and international friendship.

Addressing the program, Pratik Mathur emphasized on India’s eternal philosophy ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbkam’ (The world is one family). He reiterated India’s commitment to promoting international cooperation, mutual understanding and the aspirations of the ‘Global South’.

Mathur said that cultural exchanges play an important role in strengthening mutual relations between people and building bridges between countries. He invited the diplomats, investors and business leaders present there to visit India and experience first-hand the country’s dynamic growth story.

During this, Mathur highlighted India’s remarkable achievements in many key areas. These include economic growth and infrastructure, digital transformation, sustainable development and innovation. He also shared India’s vision to work together with the international community to realize the dream of ‘Developed India 2047’. He acknowledged that the event is a major step towards India’s active participation in promoting cultural diplomacy and further strengthening friendship and cooperation with the countries represented in East China.
