As soon as Mamata Banerjee left power, lightning struck TMC! CID raids nephew Abhishek’s house
Kolkata: With the change of power in West Bengal, the problems of Trinamool Congress seem to be increasing. On Saturday, May 29, 2026, a five-member CID team reached the Kolkata residence of TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee. Although Abhishek was not present at home at that time.
CID preparing to interrogate Abhishek
About five CID officers had reached Abhishek Banerjee’s house in Shantiniketan. The staff said that there is no information about the MP’s whereabouts. It is not yet clear in what connection the CID team had gone there.
According to sources, the team is investigating the controversy over the signature on a letter of the TMC Parliamentary Party in the Assembly. It is suspected that the notice was to be served at home. CID has already interrogated Beleghata MLA Kunal Ghosh in this case.
Questions raised on signature in the letter
In a letter submitted by TMC in the Assembly, there were allegations of irregularities in the signatures of several MLAs. CID is helping Kolkata Police in this case. Earlier, the CID team had also gone to the house of Chowringhee MLA Naina Banerjee for questioning.
TMC out of power after 15 years
TMC had to face a big defeat in the assembly elections held last month. Mamata Banerjee’s party, which was in power for 15 years, got only 80 seats. BJP formed the government for the first time in the state by winning 208 seats. Subhendu Adhikari became the Chief Minister.
After the defeat, internal strife in TMC is coming to the fore. Many MPs and MLAs are expressing their displeasure. BJP claims that about 50 TMC MLAs and 20 MPs are ready to switch sides. Just waiting for the green signal from the central leadership.
Complaint also regarding comments on Gujarati community
Another case has come to light against Abhishek Banerjee. A complaint has been registered against him in Bhawanipur police station. It is alleged that he made objectionable posts against the Gujarati community on social media platform X.
Complainant Arnab Kanti Das says that Abhishek’s comments can spread communal hatred and deteriorate social harmony. This complaint was lodged on Thursday night.
TMC is under constant pressure as soon as Mamata Banerjee leaves power. The activation of CID and signs of disunity in the party may further increase the political turmoil in the coming days.
