National para athlete Chirag Tyagi found dead in Ghaziabad: Was it Murder? Post-Mortem to reveal truth
In a shocking development that has sent ripples through the sporting community, national para athlete Chirag Tyagi was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Ghaziabad on Friday evening. Police officials said the body was recovered from the Sai Upvan area under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station, and an investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of death.
According to Kotwali SHO Sachin Kumar, police received information about the incident at around 7 pm. Preliminary examination of the body revealed an injury mark or hole on the athlete’s back, raising questions about the circumstances leading to his death. However, officials have clarified that it is too early to conclude whether the injury was caused by a firearm or by another object.
“National para athlete Chirag Tyagi’s body was found in Sai Upvan. He had left a hostel in Delhi in the morning for his native village Basantpur Sathli in Muradnagar. There is a hole in his back. Whether it is due to a bullet injury or some other impact will only be confirmed after the post-mortem examination,” SHO Sachin Kumar said.
Police sources said Tyagi had departed from his Delhi accommodation earlier in the day and was reportedly travelling towards his village when the incident occurred. Investigators are now trying to establish his movements during the hours leading up to the discovery of the body. CCTV footage from nearby areas and possible eyewitness accounts are also being examined as part of the investigation.
The sudden death of the para athlete has sparked concern among local residents and members of the sports fraternity. Authorities have sent the body for post-mortem examination, which is expected to provide crucial evidence regarding the nature of the injury and the cause of death.
At present, police have not ruled out any angle and are awaiting forensic and medical reports before drawing conclusions. Officials said further details would emerge once the autopsy findings are available and statements from family members and associates are recorded.
The incident comes as another high-profile case involving the death of a sportsperson, with investigators expected to focus on whether the death was accidental, self-inflicted, or the result of a criminal act. For now, the circumstances surrounding Chirag Tyagi’s death remain shrouded in mystery, making the post-mortem report a key element in the ongoing probe.
