In the final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 held on Sunday, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the trophy. However, Congress leader DK Shivakumar did not seem happy with this. Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar expressed his displeasure with the organizers over the decision to shift the venue of the final match to Gujarat.
Injustice happened to Bengaluru
He said, ‘The final match of IPL should have been held in Bengaluru only. Injustice has been done to us. It was shifted to some other venue due to politics. I will not say anything further on this matter.”
He further said, ‘If this final match of IPL had been played in Bengaluru, it would have been a memorable moment for Karnataka fans. It would have been exciting for the fans of Karnataka and RCB to see their team become champions for the second consecutive time. However, on behalf of all RCB fans and the Government of Karnataka, I congratulate the team.”

After this, he also congratulated the team on social media platform X. He wrote, ‘RCB has created history by winning the second consecutive IPL title. With courage, composure and the true spirit of champions, the team has once again made Bengaluru proud.”

RCB joins new club
Let us tell you that RCB won the glorious trophy by defeating Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets. With this, Royal Challengers Bangalore team has joined the elite club along with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. RCB has become the third team in the league to have won two consecutive IPL titles (2025, 2026).
Before RCB, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) (2010 and 2011) and Mumbai Indians (MI) (2019 and 2020) had already achieved this feat. RCB has reached third place in terms of winning the most IPL titles. Mumbai Indians and CSK are jointly at the top position, with 5 titles each. Kolkata Knight Riders are in second place with three titles, while RCB are in third place with two titles.
