Also, ICC took strict action against Canada Cricket Board and suspended it.

Strict action against Canada Cricket Board

According to media reports, ICC has suspended the membership of Canada Cricket Board. The reason is serious violation of the terms of membership. However, Canada’s national teams will continue to play in ICC events. ICC also made it clear that Canada will continue to receive funding so that the players do not suffer any loss.

pink ball trial in test

The board has given green signal to the trial of using pink ball in test matches. This decision has been taken to save time wasted due to bad lighting. But for this the consent of both the teams will be necessary. Teams will be able to use pink ball instead of red ball. ICC has also announced to provide funds for research on lighting technology in collaboration with MCC.

Coach got permission to talk during drinks break

ICC has made changes in the playing conditions. Now the head coach or his nominated representative will be able to talk to the players during the drinks break. Players will now be able to take advice from the coach during the drinks interval. Apart from this, a break of 15 minutes has been made mandatory between both the innings in T20 matches. Its purpose is to give the players full time to prepare for the next innings.

Use of Hawk-Eye data and leg-side wide rule

The ICC has permanently adopted the leg-side wide test. Now the position of the batsman at the time of throwing the ball will be considered as the reference point. Additionally, match officials have been given permission to use Hawk-Eye data to investigate illegal bowling actions.

Big changes regarding women’s cricket

The ICC Board has also made changes in women’s cricket events. The Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 has now been postponed from June-July to 14 to 28 February 2027. The 10-team Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy will start in 2026. There will be five full member and five associate countries.

Teams will be selected on the basis of ranking and previous T20 World Cup qualification. There will be a global qualifier of 10 teams for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2028. This 12-team tournament will be held in Pakistan, but India’s matches will be played at neutral venues.

Committee formed on franchise cricket

It is noteworthy that ICC Chairman Jay Shah said that the Ahmedabad meeting has further strengthened the commitment towards governance and growth of cricket. The board expressed concern over the increasing expansion of franchise cricket. It has been decided to form a committee to bring franchise cricket in sync with the international calendar.
