In Iran, 3 accused of raping innocent children were hanged in one year, 44 year old record broken

Recent Iran Executions Record: Iran’s judiciary has once again taken strict action and given death penalty to child rapists. This tough decision has been taken after hearing the cases registered in August 2024 and 2025. In Iran, there is only one punishment for serious crimes like rape, murder and espionage and that is death sentence.

These three criminals, who brutalized a 14-year-old and a 10-year-old innocent child, have been hanged. The Supreme Court of the country had given its final approval to the death penalty for the criminals for these heinous crimes. After this tough decision, a wide discussion has started again on the protection of children and the justice system inside Iran.

Ghorweh and Rasht city incident

In August 2024, a 14-year-old boy was raped by two men in Ghorveh city of Iran. According to Iran’s judiciary website Meezan, both of these criminals have been hanged for their horrific crime. The Supreme Court of the country had given its final approval considering the death sentence of both of them to be completely justified.

In another heart-wrenching case, a man was hanged to death in Rasht city of northern Iran. This criminal first raped and then murdered a 10-year-old innocent child in August 2025. After this heinous crime was proved, the court without wasting any time sentenced him to death.

Death penalty rules in Iran

Iran has direct death penalty for serious crimes like rape, murder, blasphemy and espionage. The judiciary of the country completes the trial in such cases very quickly and directly hangs the criminals. According to human rights organizations, after China, Iran is the second country in the world where death penalty is given the most.

According to a recent report by Amnesty International, 2,159 people were hanged in Iran during the year 2025. This figure was a huge record for the highest number of executions carried out within any one year in the last 44 years. There was a huge increase of more than double the number of death penalty cases in Iran in 2025 compared to 2024.
