PDA means ‘will beat Ahir’, OP Rajbhar-Akhilesh Yadav’s war of words, how did it come on ‘caste’?

In the politics of Uttar Pradesh, the ruling parties never openly attack each other with caste-related words, but before the 2027 assembly elections, Om Prakash Rajbhar is making a new move. He has been angry with the ‘Ahir’ community for months. Om Prakash Rajbhar, who was once a staunch friend of Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav, has now become his political enemy. This enmity seems to be less political and more personal.

Om Prakash Rajbhar’s target is ‘Ahir’. He is writing openly against the people of Ahir community. He has said that the sticks of Ahirs fall on the backs of the poor. Sometimes they surround the Muslims, sometimes the Ahirs. In the politics of Uttar Pradesh, the core vote bank of Samajwadi Party is called ‘Yadav and Muslims’. With the help of this ‘MY’ formula, Samajwadi Party has tasted victory in UP many times.

‘PDA means will beat Ahir’

Om Prakash Rajbhar has said that Ahir formula will defeat Akhilesh Yadav’s Backward, Dalit and Minority (PDA) formula. He says that Ahirs beat backward people, Dalits and minorities, Ahirs are the biggest caste that commits caste oppression. There has been an uproar over his statement and the people of Yadav community are angry with Om Prakash Rajbhar.

Om Prakash Rajbhar wrote on Akhilesh Yadav, you have been shouting since 27th that a murder took place in Lucknow. A murder took place, the murderer was not arrested. Hey Akhilesh Babu, the killer has been found, your own, very close to you. Have you heard that the arrested accused is a Yadav? Vice President of your Samajwadi Lohia Vahini? Is the second one a Muslim? Both are your voters. Akhilesh ji, you tell these people that you are my child.

Why is there a fight between Yadav and Rajbhar?

Om Prakash Rajbhar said in an interview given on a TV channel on June 2, ‘When the Samajwadi Party is in power, when Akhilesh Yadav is in power, he is doing good to his caste, when he comes out of power, then he remembers the backward people. On September 3, 2013, the High Court had said that only backward castes are taking the benefits of reservation applicable for backward castes. Akhilesh Yadav gives benefits only to his own people.

Om Prakash Rajbhar says that the party of Ahirs and Muslims has become Samajwadi Party. Because of this formula, Samajwadi Party does not pay attention to any backward class. Castes like Nau, Carpenter, Vishwakarma, Rajbhar, Kurmi are not in the eyes of Akhilesh Yadav. Om Prakash Rajbhar wants to make it a political issue. He has been chanting the tune of Yadav versus other OBCs for the last several months.

Why is Om Prakash Rajbhar openly playing caste based tactics?

The open war between Om Prakash Rajbhar and Akhilesh Yadav in the caste politics of Uttar Pradesh is regarding the non-Yadav OBC vote bank. Om Prakash Rajbhar describes himself as a leader of the non-Yadav OBC category. He says that Yadavs oppress other backward castes. OP Rajbhar comes from the Rajbhar community. This caste is in a strong position among non-Yadav OBCs. There is about 3 to 4 percent vote bank. Om Prakash Rajbhar argues that the Samajwadi Party’s PDA strategy is actually Yadav-centric.

He says that in the rule of Akhilesh Yadav, non-Yadav OBCs did not get adequate share, while the Yadav community got a lot of benefits. OBC is the largest and core vote bank of SP. Om Prakash Rajbhar now wants to strengthen his separate existence by uniting non-Yadav OBCs before the 2027 elections. Dependence on Samajwadi Party should be reduced and BJP should get more seats in alliance.

How is Akhilesh Yadav making a dent in Rajbhar votes?

Akhilesh Yadav is trying to save the traditional Yadav-Muslim vote bank of Samajwadi Party. He is trying to make a dent in the non-Yadav OBCs. He has promoted leaders like Seema Rajbhar in his party. If small OBC sections like Rajbhar separate from Samajwadi Party and become independent or strengthen with BJP, then SP’s OBC vote may get scattered. This will be a loss of 3 to 4 percent vote bank for them. Akhilesh Yadav wants to increase vote share in dozens of seats in Purvanchal in 2027. If Rajbhar votes come together, his job may become easier. Om Prakash Rajbhar has his eyes on the same stake of Akhilesh Yadav.
