Monsoon Alert: The weather is set to take a turn once again. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding strong winds, storms, and rainfall across several states of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, the Southwest Monsoon is expected to arrive in Kerala within the next 24 hours. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is also forecast for Tamil Nadu and Karnataka over the next 6–7 days.
As per the department’s latest bulletin, thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are likely in various parts of Northwest, Central, and East India, as well as the Southern Peninsula, on several days this week. Orange Alert Issued for Punjab and Haryana
According to the Meteorological Department, a new Western Disturbance has become active over Punjab and Haryana. On Thursday, ‘Orange’ and ‘Yellow’ rainfall alerts were issued for both states. Similar weather conditions are expected to persist until June 6. The rainfall is also expected to bring about a slight drop in temperatures.
Storm and Thunderstorm Warning for Uttarakhand
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms at isolated locations within the hilly districts of Uttarakhand over the next 24 hours. Alerts have been issued for isolated areas across the districts of Dehradun, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh, warning of thunderstorms with lightning. During this period, strong winds are expected to blow at speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.

Light Rainfall Expected in Mumbai
According to the Meteorological Department, a change in weather patterns is expected in Thane, Navi Mumbai, and the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region starting June 4. Isolated thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall may occur across various locations, leading to a reduction in both temperature and humidity. Furthermore, after June 8 and 9, the extent of rainfall and thunderstorm activity is expected to increase even further.

– Isolated heavy rainfall is likely at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh on June 4 and again during the period of June 6–9.
– An alert has been issued for Assam and Meghalaya in view of the expected rainfall during June 4–7.
– An alert regarding isolated heavy rainfall has been issued for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during June 6–7.
– The Meteorological Department has also indicated the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall in Assam and Meghalaya on June 8–9.
– An alert has been issued for Bihar regarding rainfall accompanied by strong winds during June 6–9.
– Alerts have been issued for Gangetic West Bengal (during June 4–9) and Jharkhand (during June 3–7) regarding rainfall accompanied by strong winds.
