Violent clash between two parties after road accident, accused abscond after locking the houses
Chhatarpur. The dispute that started after a road accident in Vindhyavasini Mandir police post area of Chhatarpur city of Madhya Pradesh late on Thursday night quickly turned into a violent clash. The two parties came face to face in the disturbance that lasted for about five hours. During this, there was fierce fighting, stone pelting and vandalism of vehicles.
The situation worsened when the miscreants also pelted stones at the police team that reached the spot. Police have arrested four accused, while the search for others is on.
According to the information, three youths of Toriya locality were driving the Pulsar bike at high speed while waving it. Meanwhile, his bike collided with a scooter coming from the front. The scooter-riding couple and their three-year-old daughter were injured in the accident.
The victim’s family objected to the negligence of the bike drivers and demanded the treatment expenses and took away the keys of the bike. According to eyewitnesses, angry over this, a young man returned after some time with several people and started fighting with the couple.
The scooter was also vandalized. The victim woman has alleged that the attackers snatched her three-year-old daughter from her lap and threw her on the road, due to which the girl got injured.
Clash between two parties, police also became target
After the fight, the woman called her family to inform them about the incident. After which the family members of the victim also reached the spot. By then the accused had fled towards their homes.
When the aggrieved party reached the house of the accused (Toriya Mohalla), both the groups came face to face. There was fierce fighting and stone pelting between men and women. On receiving the information, the police force reached the spot, but the miscreants also targeted the police team and pelted stones.
Government vehicles were damaged. During this time, a young man who was making a video of the incident got seriously injured when his head was hit by a stone. The situation became so tense that initially the police had to retreat.
Additional force had to be called, the accused absconded after locking the houses.
Seeing the situation going out of control, additional forces including Kotwali, Civil Lines and Orchha Road police station were deployed on the spot. As soon as information was received about the arrival of heavy police force, many accused locked their houses and fled.
The police raided in the night itself and arrested four accused including Nisar, Nijju, Chhotu. People of the area have also claimed that there was aerial firing during the dispute, although the police have not officially confirmed this.
Police examining CCTV footage
Superintendent of Police Rajat Saklecha said that as soon as information about the incident was received, he reached the spot along with senior officials and brought the situation under control. A case has been registered against the accused under various sections including obstruction of government work, attack on police, stone pelting and rioting.
Other accused are being identified on the basis of CCTV footage and video recording. Continuous raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding accused.
