Pandemic War And Energy Crisis Have Shaken The Global Order Yet India Is Moving Ahead Rapidly On Green Growth Pm Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (June 5) said that the Covid-19 pandemic, various wars and the global energy crisis have affected the economic and political system of the entire world, but despite these challenges, India is moving forward strongly and is making green growth the main basis of its development journey. He said that the world is now rapidly moving towards a green future and India is committed to playing a leading role in this transformation.
Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of development projects worth about ₹18,800 crore in Surat, Gujarat, Prime Minister Modi said that the current decade has proved to be one of the most challenging periods for the world.
“The world is going through unprecedented challenges,” he said. Referring to his earlier statement, the Prime Minister said that this time has become a “decade of disasters” for many countries. He said that the Covid pandemic, the ongoing geopolitical conflict and the resulting energy crisis are having a deep impact on the global economy. Volatility in fuel prices and disruptions in gas supply chains have created economic uncertainty in many regions.
The Prime Minister said that despite these circumstances, India has maintained the pace of development on the strength of the collective efforts and determination of its citizens. He stressed that the country has shown stability and strength even amidst crises.
Referring to the government’s priorities on green growth and clean energy, Modi said the future belongs to sustainable development and clean energy. He said that India is working on many important policies to strengthen energy security, promote environmental protection and build a sustainable economy.
According to the Prime Minister, the investments being made in the field of clean energy and environmental sustainability will not only help address future challenges, but also create new opportunities for innovation, employment and economic growth. He said that green growth is an important part of India’s long-term economic strategy.
In his address, the Prime Minister also strongly defended the “Self-reliant India” campaign. He said that in today’s uncertain global circumstances, self-reliance is the basis of any country’s strength. Taking a dig at the critics, he said that some people still make fun of the campaign, whereas the reality is that self-reliance provides long-term economic strength to a nation.
Modi said that countries which are overly dependent on others are not able to fully utilize their development potential. According to him, the Self-reliant India campaign is making the country economically more capable and stronger.
During this period, the Prime Minister also made a sharp political attack on the Congress Party. He alleged that Congress has been trying to create instability for political gains. He claimed that voters in various states have rejected the Congress’s governance model and this trend has been reflected in the recent election results.
Referring to the local body elections in Himachal Pradesh and Haryana, he said that the public has expressed dissatisfaction towards the Congress. While commenting on the political situation in Karnataka, the Prime Minister alleged that there is widespread resentment among the people regarding the Congress government in the state.
The Prime Minister said that today’s India is driven by hope, aspiration and determination to achieve national goals. He said that the progress of the country is based on the collective strength and confidence of its citizens. “A confident and ambitious India is capable of overcoming any challenge,” he said.
Describing development as the government’s top priority, Modi said infrastructure expansion and economic growth remain the key goals of the BJP-led government. He also informed that this is his first visit to Surat after the local body elections and thanked the people of Gujarat for keeping their faith in BJP for the last two and a half decades.
At the end of his address, the Prime Minister referred to his recent visit to five countries and said that there is widespread interest in India’s political and economic progress abroad. Referring to the recent electoral successes of the BJP-led NDA in West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry, he described it as a proof of public confidence in the government’s development-centric policies.
The Prime Minister said that India is focused on sustainable development, self-reliance and long-term prosperity amid a rapidly changing global scenario, and the country is poised to play a key role in shaping the future global economy.
