A huge change has been seen in the weather of Rajasthan at this time. Due to the impact of Western Disturbance, the storm and rain that started on Thursday evening continued till Friday morning. Light to moderate rain along with strong thunderstorm has been recorded in about 18 cities of the state including the capital Jaipur. While people have got relief from the scorching heat due to this sudden change in weather, on the other hand, news of devastation is also coming out from many areas.
Due to strong storm and heavy rain, the temperature has dropped by up to 8 degrees Celsius in many cities of the state. However, meanwhile, Jaisalmer’s day with 42.1 degrees and Phalodi’s night with 30.8 degrees were recorded the hottest. Apart from Jaisalmer, the day temperature also crossed 40 degrees in Sriganganagar, Barmer and Pali. The Meteorological Department says that due to a circulation system over the state, this phase of thunderstorms and rains may continue for the next 2-3 days.
Badra rained the most in Dungargarh of Bikaner, caused huge devastation
According to information received from the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder occurred at many places in the eastern parts of the state, while heavy rain was also recorded at 1-2 places. At the same time, a period of rain along with dust storm was seen in the areas of Western Rajasthan. The highest rainfall of 75 mm in the entire state has been recorded in Dungargarh of Bikaner. Apart from this, Ajmer recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 19.0 degrees.
It started raining in Udaipur from early Friday morning, whereas in Jaipur it rained intermittently throughout Thursday night. But amidst this pleasant weather, a painful news has also come. Due to the terrible storm in Dholpur, Bharatpur and Bhilwara, 4 people including a woman have died and many houses have been heavily damaged. Stormy rains disrupted life in Sriganganagar too, while the roof of a government school in Bikaner collapsed. It was fortunate that there were school holidays, otherwise a major accident could have happened.
Big warning from Meteorological Department, mood will change again from June 8 and heat wave will continue.
Radheshyam Sharma, Director of Meteorological Center, Jaipur, said that this active patch of rain has been raining with good intensity for a long time. It is slowly moving from north-east to south-west direction towards Bikaner. He said that due to the weather system over the state, thunderstorm and rain activities will continue for the next 2-3 days. After this, there may be light showers with thunder at some places in East Rajasthan.
According to the Meteorological Department, this period of thunderstorms and rains will start reducing from June 8 and the temperature will once again increase by 2-3 degrees. After this, real trouble will come, because during June 8 to 11, the maximum temperature in the border areas of Western Rajasthan can reach 44 to 46 degrees and there is a possibility of severe heat wave at many places.
Speed stopped overnight in Jaipur, roads filled with ocean-like water
Talking about the capital Jaipur, the rain that started from Thursday evening continued intermittently till Friday morning. During this time, such strong winds blew that the weather changed completely. About 35 mm of rain has been recorded in Jaipur, due to which the mercury in the city dropped by 6 degrees. However, this heavy rain exposed the claims of the Municipal Corporation and the drivers had to face a lot of problems due to water logging on the roads. The maximum temperature of Jaipur dropped by 5.9 degrees and the minimum temperature by 4.6 degrees, after which the maximum temperature here was recorded at 34 degrees and the minimum temperature was 21.8 degrees.
